Margie was proposed. All in favour.

0406.04 Election of Chairman and Vice Chairman

Mike agreed to stand for re-election as Chairman. All in favour. Peter agreed to stand for re-election as Vice Chairman. All in favour.

0406.05 Appointment of Treasurer and Secretary

Gill G agreed to stand for re-election as Treasurer. All in favour.

Gill S agreed to stand for re-election as Secretary. All in favour.

0406.06 Minutes: Minutes of the meeting held on Tuesday 14 th February 2006 were agreed as a correct record and signed.

0406.07 Matters arising:

1 Car park resurfacing: Mike had heard from Joanna Rumbold who said that DNPA would give £1000 towards the cost and would also provide the sign for the car park, with the agreed wording.

2 Tree in car park: The tree will come down later in the year. No-one had sent in any stories about it.

3 Hearing loop: Soundbase were not open when Marj went, but it was agreed that we would still like her to get their advice.

4 Shredder: Gill S will bring this up with the Parish Council.

5 Side Gate: This has been mended.

6 Fete committee subsidy for hall heating: Mike will speak to the Chairman, Mike Maddicks.

There had been a very large electricity bill due to heating in the new toilets being left on all the time. Mike has now put the heaters on a very low thermostat to stop this re-occurring and the heaters will be checked regularly.

After a discussion it was agreed not to give a further subscription to CCD. It was felt that CVS South Hams would be more useful. Gill S will contact them to find out how we subscribe.

It had been agreed that Tina's wages would be increased to £5.75 an hour from March 1 st 2006. To make paying her more efficient, her wages will be divided in to 12 equal monthly amounts, but she will still have to give in her invoices, as she is self-employed. Marj will speak to her.

To make handling the accounts more manageable, Marj will help Gill G by paying in monies. She will liaise with Margie.

0406.10 Parish Council Report: Pam Melville has resigned. Paul Arrowsmith and

Ru Roberts have been co-opted. A strategy has been set up to build up the dwindling financial reserves, precepting an extra £200 over the annual budget, for the next 5 years.

The Affordable Housing Advisory Committee are due to visit the site at Widecombe on May 4 th and will be sending a letter to potential land owners in Holne and Scoriton.. They are also hoping to meet the Bridford Group.

The annual Parish Meeting is on Wednesday 26 th April.

Work continues on trying to get Broadband in the village.

0406.11 Booking Clerk's Report: None

0406.12 Representatives' Reports:

Bowls: Closed for the summer.

Whist: Still well attended with people from as far away as Princetown.

Social Group: As Lesley Retallick, the next speaker, has glandular fever, Philip

Carter has stepped into the breach. He will give a talk on the 4 th stage of the Coastal Path on 19 th April. Marj and Maggie will give a talk on Canada in May.

Peter and Phil will then be standing down as organisers. There is roughly £250-£300 belonging to the group and it will have to be decided what to do with the money, depending on the future running of the group.

PCC: The committee were thanked for the money made at the Christmas Fare. A discussion took place about how many free sessions the Church should have in the hall. Peter and Marj to report back at the next meeting.

0406.13 Plant Sale

This will be held on 27 th May. Marj will ask Margie for the hall plan. Maggie will do refreshments, Gill S will do the advertising. Both she and Gill G tendered their apologies for the actual day. Raffle-Peter. Door-Mike. Cake/produce-Marj. Photos-Rosemary.

Mike to ask Howard and Morris about plants. Those that can to help set up on Friday.

0406.14 Second hand books/Paintings by local artists sale

An excellent event with a continual stream of people throughout the day. £158 was made from book selling-proceeds to the hall. £95 donations and 10% of all painting and wood sales were given for the Friends of Holne Church.

0406.15 Communication

It was agreed that minutes and future events should be put on the website and Holybrook Exchange. Action-Gill S.

0406.16 AOB:

1 Many hall car park users are unaware that the shop/café had opened. Barry has asked if he could put up a sign at the edge of the car park, as many people could not see the sign outside the shop from the car park gate. All agreed, Mike to speak to Barry.

2 Mike will write thank you letters to Gill and Mike Cunniam for their efforts in selling books on Easter Monday and to Matthew Powell for mending the gate.

3 Mike will contact the Fire Prevention Service to get our fire extinguishers checked.

4 Paul Arrowsmith had said that he might be interested in doing general handyman jobs in the hall. Gill S to speak to him.

5 Notice boards-concerns were expressed that notices hanging down off the boards in the hall could be tugged at by the toddlers, resulting perhaps in them getting the drawing pins. Under health and safety, all notices should be pinned at each corner, within the boundaries of the boards. There should be a regular tidying up of the outside boards .
